Some days you wake up and you just can’t fathom putting in the effort. You know what I’m talking about; styling your hair feels like a chore, make up doesn’t have to be perfect and the sheer thought of walking to work in toothpick thin heels makes you want to cut off your own legs.
It’s sad, but true; sometimes you just can’t be bothered.
You’ve finally picked out an outfit that is somewhat comfy, yet still appropriate for the office. Now, what to do about the shoe? Wearing flats to work can be tricky territory because you want to look professional while wearing a more sensible shoe.
The Nine West Taker is an easy slip-on pointed toe flat with rubber outsoles. The foot bed is lightly cushioned and they weigh in at only 6oz which means walking will be a breeze. The simple design makes it a versatile option and an instant classic for those lazy days.
What I Love
I have always found rubber bottoms to be pretty bad ass. They make it feel like you’re walking on cushions instead of pavement and when I’m having a tired foot day, that’s clearly what I’m looking for in a shoe.
The slip-on design of the shoe is also a plus in my books. Bending over to put on shoes is such a chore sometimes, so simplicity is key. The soft leather upper is a bonus as well. Easy to stretch if you’re in between sizes and yet, still breathable so you avoid stinky feet.
What I Loathe
I gotta say, I’m not totally loving the pointed toe. While I understand that a pointed toe comes across as more sophisticated than a round ballerina flat, the shape is odd.
If you have wider feet you will probably experience a lot of pinching in this area. Lucky for you I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve for How To Break In Your Shoes.
Not keen on the pointed toe like me? Check out the Naturalizer Maude. It’s more rounded and comes in a few more colour options but still offers comfort and a professional leather look.
Work It Girl
I think it’s already been established that this shoe is a great office option but let me break it down a little further for you. I’m not saying that flats don’t look cute with skirts and dresses, but if you’re headed to the office, I think it would be wiser to pair these with work trousers.
Did I seriously just say trousers? Trousers, slacks, work pants, whatever you want to call them – the shoe will be more professional when paired with a pant.
Add a blouse and blazer and you’ll be laughing. I personally love this one, and it’s not just because I threw it together on Polyvore…..okay….maybe it is.
For a more posh, though still casual look sport the Nine West Taker with cropped pants, a button up shirt and a pair of Manhattan style sunglasses for a very Audrey Hepburn-esque look. Ahhh Audrey, I just love her.
And there you have it ladies…a flat. A pretty simple staple but it gets the job done for those days when you just couldn’t be bothered.
Now, clearly, I have my opinions but I want to hear from you ladies! Are you diggin’ the Nine West Taker or do you prefer other Nine West flats or even non-Nine West flats? I want to know what you are currently loving and why, so please share your thoughts in the comment section below!
